The first wave of white actors giving up their jobs to black actors has started. Kristen Bell and Jenny Slate both voice bi-racial characters in adult cartoon shows. Well, I should say USED to voice biracial characters as both women have decided to step down from their rolls to allow black women to voice the two characters.
CNN reports:
Bell and the creative team behind the show recognize “that the casting of the character of Molly is an opportunity to get representation right – to cast a Black or mixed race actress and give Molly a voice that resonates with all the nuance and experiences of the character as we’ve drawn her.”
“In a joint statement posted on Twitter, “Big Mouth” creators Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett said they supported Slate’s decision and planned to recast the role with a Black actor.
“We sincerely apologize for and regret our original decision to cast a white actor to voice a biracial character,” they wrote. “We made a mistake, took our privilege for granted, and we’re working hard to do better moving forward.”
They added that they “are proud of the representation Missy has offered cerebral, sensitive women of color, and we plan to continue that representation.”
Everyone is so woke. No one can be as woke as these women, though because they were like the first of the woke women in Hollywood, and now all other women in Hollywood are wokeless trash. (said in my best West Hollywood impersonation)
Both of the characters were half white, and yet it only matters that white women and not black women voiced them. What difference does it make if a white woman voices the cartoon character or a black woman? Technically, neither a white woman nor a black woman knows what it is like to live as a biracial woman. But people like this don’t care about facts, which is the reason they think it is a good idea.
This is so dumb. I cannot believe that these women think that stepping down from voicing half white characters in an adult cartoon that no one watched is somehow addressing and defeating racism in our country. As soon as it is “safe,” these women will appear on EVERY SINGLE TV SHOW to promote and project their wokeness for the whole country to see.
I’m tired of these idiots that occupy our TVs, wake me up when it is all over.
