Minn. Council President Lisa Bender Wants To Dismantle The Police Because Of ‘Privilege’ [Opinion]

Around the country, talks of defunding police departments are on the rise. We are seeing liberals falling over themselves to show their support for this movement.

CNN had the Minneapolis city council President on to talk about what dismantling the police would look like to its residents. I’ll give you a hint, she doesn’t tell us what it will look like.

Bender said that watching George Floyd’s death was a huge wake-up call for many, that the Minneapolis Police department is not keeping all of the city’s residents safe. She claims that after years of attempted reform and new leadership, it is time to dismantle the police department.

What she doesn’t point out is that the Democrat party has been in power during all these times of “reform and leadership changes.” If you keep electing the same type of person with a different name, no real reform will take place.

Bender wants to stop investing money into the police force and start funding social services to address social safety issues like stable housing for low-income neighborhoods.

It is too bad that the leadership in Minneapolis allowed rioting to destroy buildings in low-income neighborhoods. These buildings included one that was explicitly used for low-income housing.

Did you hear that? When asked who you should call in the middle of the night when someone is breaking in, Bender said that it is our privilege that allowed us to call the police.

Lisa Bender: “Yes, I hear that loud and clear from a lot of my neighbors. And I know — and myself, too, and I know that that comes from a place of privilege. Because for those of us for whom the system is working, I think we need to step back and imagine what it would feel like to already live in that reality where calling the police may mean more harm is done.”

What else can we honestly say? This is just plain dumb, and it is going to get people killed.

The only reform that will work in Minneapolis is to vote red down the ticket and allow the Republicans to go and clean up these idiots’ mess.
