Well, HOT DOG. I think this is one of the few times I haven’t had a full-body cringe when reading something about the IRS.
The IRS has been stepping up their game in several ways to ensure that Americans receive the financial help they need in a timely manner.
While word has been spreading that the stimulus checks will be issued via direct deposit to the American people, this initially referred to the Americans who have previously signed up to receive funds from the IRS, such as tax returns, through direct deposit.
Thus, the individuals who have never signed up for direct deposit with the IRS would have anticipated receiving paper checks in September.
BUT, no need to fret!
As Trending Politics reported:
However, the IRS has been working around the clock to set up an online form so anyone can enter their direct deposit info – and it’s going live next week!
This is going to help fast-track stimulus payments to the American people in order to help relieve the financial pressure they may be feeling from the Coronavirus slowdown.
The website wasn’t supposed to launch until late April or early May, but the IRS stepped up their game in a big way.
According to a release from the U.S. Department of Treasury and the IRS, they plan to launch a web application called “Get My Payment” that will allow taxpayers to submit their direct deposit information if they failed to do so while submitting their tax return in 2018 or 2019.
This new tool will allow Americans to get their Economic Impact Payments in their bank accounts quickly instead of waiting for a check to arrive in the mail.
Additionally, the American people will be able to track the status of their payment to further alleviate any budgeting or timing worries.
The portal should be launched next week!
