Surgeon General Jerome Adams hurt some people’s feelings. Ouchy. Adams used the allegedly offensive language in speaking to minority communities in Friday’s press conference. He was urging them to follow the CDC guidelines. This is especially important since recent news reports show minorities have been the most hard hit by COVID-19.
As soon as I heard the Surgeon General say “Big Momma and Pop Pop,” I KNEW reporters would be salivating to make it racist. Yamiche delivered, as expected. pic.twitter.com/mFZc0JYiGL

PBS White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor quizzed Adams on his choice of words.
“Do it for your Abuela, do it for your Grandaddy, do it for your Big Momma, do it for your Pop Pop,” he said.
That language immediately triggered PBS reporter Yamiche Alcindor, who said that the language was offensive.
“There are some people online that are already offended by that language,” she said later in the briefing.
“I use the language that is used in my family,” Adams replied, noting that his own family used the terms “Grandaddy” and “Big Mama.”
“That was not meant to be offensive. That’s the language that I use and they use,” he added.
Dr. Anthony Fauci also stood up and defended Adams’ choice of language.
“I know Jerome personally and I can just testify that he made not even a hint of being offensive with that comment, I thought that was appropriate,” Fauci said.
Adams response was much more kind than mine would have been. Yamiche should have been told to go scratch. Why would people think Adams, an African American, is racist against African Americans?! Every family has their terms of endearment that they use. It’s as simple as that.
It would be far better for this “journalist” to focus on what Adams was actually communicating and what can be done to ensure the guidelines are heard and followed by all communities in America.
What have we learned from this crisis? It is that Democrats and liberals always have time to push their agenda and act as the PC police. The PC police never, ever take a break. They are tireless and relentless.
As always, the media and left-wing outrage comes not from a genuine place of offense, but from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Remember the outrage when President Obama used language indicating you need get the lazy black man off the couch to vote? Nope. Since there was none.
President Obama frequently trotted out lazy Cousin Pookie and Uncle Jethro when speaking to mostly black crowds.
Someone be sure to see if @Yamiche and the “many people” she claims to that find the term pop pop and Big Mama offensive equallly as upset with President Obama saying call Cousin Pookie pic.twitter.com/nAx6erj2ax

Call me crazy, but I think the image of cousin Pookie, a lazy, unmotivated man laying on a couch, is far more stereotypical and offensive than the terms of endearment for family members used by Surgeon General Adams. Did the mainstream media hit Obama on this? Hardly! The USA Today reported on President Obama’s get-out-the-vote effort and explained “one of his favorite characters” using this kind ABC News explanation.
“Cousin Pookie — sometimes joined, in previous campaigns, by Uncle Jethro and Ray Ray — is the president’s chuckle-inducing way of getting African-American crowds to bring their disconnected friends and relatives to the polls.”
Awe, Obama was such a comedian, wasn’t he? It would be nice if the MSM extended Republicans the same grace they extend Democrats. I know, I’m dreaming.
