Buckle up COTR readers, we are back on the Russian collusion train, and it is going off the rails.
It wasn’t enough to drive the country over the cliff of impeachment for almost an entire year; now, they want to continue to beat a dead horse. The left is bringing up the Russian collusion hoax again. They are now claiming that in a confidential closed-door meeting, former DNI Joseph Maguire said that there is new evidence that Russian is actively trying to get Donald Trump elected in 2020.
“Intelligence officials warned House lawmakers last week that Russia was interfering in the 2020 campaign to try to get President Trump re-elected, five people familiar with the matter said, a disclosure to Congress that angered Mr. Trump, who complained that Democrats would use it against him.”
It didn’t take long for the leak to make its rounds, and the mainstream media who are always quick to talk negatively about Trump reported it like it is a fact. By the way, the same NY Times article is claiming that Adam Schiff was in the room during the confidential briefing. I wonder how the NY Times learned of this new attempt at “Russian collusion.”
Trump was angry with outgoing acting DNI Joseph Maguire for allowing information about Russia's meddling efforts in 2020 to be included in a briefing, a White House official said. Rep. Jim Himes says Maguire should “tell the American public what happened”https://t.co/WK62uxqf6j pic.twitter.com/Z46z3mynf1

Anytime Donald Trump uses his constitutional right to change the people he works with; the left seems to find a reason to bring Russia into the conversation. Sources say that Trump is set to do a complete shake-up of the DNI.
After his acquittal Trump told aides he wanted “bad people” (aka Never Trumpers) out fast. This goes much wider than DOJ. He wants them gone at State, DHS, DOD, right across government. That is McEntee’s mandate. https://t.co/ElV0KlVosI

There is a real possibility that Russia is trying to meddle in our elections, but it certainly wouldn’t be to get Donald Trump elected.
Donald Trump is actively aiding all of Russia’s enemies. Russia is currently fighting a war with Ukraine, and Trump (NOT OBAMA) gave Ukraine real military aid. He outfitted them with defensive and offensive weaponry, along with a large monetary backing, and standard humanitarian assistance. He has called Russia out for its help in the Syrian crisis. He held their allies at bay (Iran is colluding with Russia). Trump boosted support for Israel and has tried to create peace in the Gaza Strip.
Trump is vehemently against Russia’s pipeline that is supposed to flow gas through most of Europe. Trump is against Russia’s longtime ally, China, in their attempt to bring their 5G services to the European Union. This service, by the way, will bring a considerable security risk to the world. China is infamous for its hacking of other countries and their complete lack of respect for privacy.
If Russia is doing anything, it is trying to spread false lies about Trump colluding with them to help a weaker candidate get elected.

Even the liberal “journalist” Jake Tapper is pushing back against this narrative. Of course, you will see in his tweets that he got his digs in on the President, but the main thought is that this narrative is once again not being reported accurately by the liberal left. Here is his tweet thread:
“A national security official I know and trust pushes back on the way the briefing/ODNI story is being told, and others with firsthand knowledge agree with his assessment. “What’s been articulated in the news is that the intelligence community has concluded that the Russians are trying to help Trump again. But the intelligence doesn’t say that,” the official says…“The problem is Shelby” — Pierson, the elections threats executive in the intelligence community — “said they developed a preference for Trump. A more reasonable interpretation of the intelligence is not that they have a preference, it’s a step short of that….“It’s more that they understand the president is someone they can work with, he’s a dealmaker. But not that they prefer him over Sanders or Buttigieg or anyone else. So it may have been mischaracterized by Shelby” at the House Intel briefing last week…”And by the way,” the official says, “both Democrats and Republicans were challenging this at the briefing.” Then there’s the matter of the tense meeting between President Trump and erstwhile Acting Director of National Intelligence Admiral Maguire…“The President was upset that he had to hear about an intelligence conclusion from a Member of the House Republicans rather than from the intelligence community. So he was out of joint with Maguire on that process.” None of this disputes that Trump desires to replace those who have Intel expertise with partisan loyalists, or dismisses the larger issues and concerns about Russia and how the president seeks help from abroad. Just that there seems to be more to this particular story. ALSO, none of this disputes that the Russians (and others) are attempting to interfere in the US election again.”
The coup continues in the swamp.
