The concept for the March for Life rally has such a personal connection in my life. My husband and I got married very young. We also got pregnant very young. Multiple people just assumed that we would abort our oldest daughter. When we pushed back and said absolutely not, we will stand for life. We became the black sheep in the family circle.
It’s hard for me to this day to watch them celebrate my oldest daughter’s accomplishments, knowing that if at 22, I would have listened to their “advice,” the great joy of watching her grow up would have been snuffed out.
She is kind, respectful, smart, and athletic. I had no way of knowing that she would grow up to be this girl, and yet I chose life. I had no way to know that having her would lead to us having three more beautiful girls, and again I chose life.
I was told at a young age that I had a lot of medical reasons that would make it hard or even impossible to get pregnant without the help of fertility treatments. I knew when we got pregnant that it wasn’t going to be easy, but my husband made me feel like this was the greatest joy and blessing we could be given. Every moment of sickness reminded me of the miracle that I had been given. I ended up, by the COMPLETE SHOCK of every OBGYN I have ever had, getting pregnant with three other miracles.
When my daughters are older, I will explain to them the choices given to us and why we chose life.
Please watch the video, it is moving and beautiful and needs to be seen.
