The fight for life continues even after the baby is born. It is such a tragic sentence even to write. A mother in Texas has been fighting for her daughter’s right to live for her entire 11 months of life.
According to Fox 7, “Attorneys for Cook Children’s Medical Center have argued that her condition will not improve and that keeping her on life support is actually causing her pain.”
This is in stark contrast to the reports from her mother and family members who claim the child experiences all emotions. She is happy when her favorite show, “puppy dog pals,” is on and gets frustrated when they turn it off. The mother describes Tinslee (the 11-month-old) as happy and wants to be held and touched. She acknowledges as they entire her room, and also reaches for them.
Fox 7 also said that: “a Texas appeals court agreed to delay that judge’s ruling after receiving a letter from Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.”
Lt. Gov. of Texas had this to say in the response to the Judge’s ruling to allow Tinslee to stay on life support:
I am so thankful that the Texas Second Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the life of #TinsleeLewis. Texans stand up for life and Tinslee’s life is precious. Please keep this baby and her parents in your prayers.https://t.co/P9knA7OJSk

Tinslee’s mother explains that she is getting better. Albeit slow, her lungs are improving. This child wants to live and wants to thrive. The steroid the doctors have given Tinslee is helping her lungs. They are getting stronger. There is real hope here.
We have to be aware and stand up to these faceless committees. These committees should not be allowed to hold life in their hands in order to lower the cost of their facility.
As our celebrities preach and honor abortion, we must be the ones to say no more. “We are all in danger” when we are taken out of the decision on whether a life is worth living.
This baby has lived 10 months longer than the hospital ever thought she would. They should be celebrating the strength of this mother and her child. “I never thought I would have to go through something like this,” Tinslee’s mother said.
When asked what is her biggest fear her response was :
“I’m not going to say my biggest fear is losing her. I know that everybody has to pass away. My biggest fear is me not being able to make the decision for her.”
Could you imagine not being allowed to make medical decisions for your newborn because a hospital has decided it knows better?
This is unacceptable and needs to change. Thankfully Tinslee and her mother Trinity live in Texas, where the sanctity of life means something powerful to the Governor.
