Purrsonally, I’m hoping that one of the critics, if not more, were bold enough to state that the movie was a catastrophe.
Otherwise, that’s just a wasted opportunity, let’s be real.
As The Daily Wire reported:
Universal has told theaters carrying the horrifying new movie musical, “Cats,” that it will be updating the movie, fixing some of the visual effects, and re-releasing the film into theaters after it was widely panned by critics and ignored by audiences.
I’ll be honest, when I first saw the previews, I would cringe for the entire duration. The cats are the size of rats and, as poetic as the play would have intended the plotline, I just couldn’t make any comfortable sense of it. At least, not enough to go and see it myself.
Which is rather interesting, because normally the previews tend to be better than the movie, so as to encourage viewers to see it.
So, it was essentially doomed from the beginning.
Movie critics, on behalf of a majority of the public, I tip my hat to you.
The Daily Wire also stated:
The reviews do make for some hilarious reading. The London Evening Standard’s movie critic described “Cats” as worse than a horror movie, largely because of the visual effects, which make every human acting in the movie musical look like a half-naked, part-feline, space alien.
If the previews of the movie weren’t telling enough, apparently several critics noted that the Cats characters were very sexualized, which is grotesque and a-paw-ling at best.
However, there’s something else to consider… maybe it’s not the editing that made it horrible.
