Remember a few days ago when I let you know Sen. Bernie Sanders had been in the hospital? Well, his diagnosis has been confirmed: myocardial infarction. Or, in layman’s terms, a heart attack.
Luckily, it seems to have been relatively mild; as we know, he pulled through just fine with two new stints in his heart, and he’s recovering well by all reports.
Regarding the episode, Bernie tweeted:
Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm feeling good. I'm fortunate to have good health care and great doctors and nurses helping me to recover.
None of us know when a medical emergency might affect us. And no one should fear going bankrupt if it occurs. Medicare for All!

I’m glad the care he received was state-of-the-art and that he’s healing comfortably. But you would have to be flippin’ nuts to think that Medicare for All would provide a remotely comparable level of care. He’d probably still be in a waiting room if he’d had his way. Thank God he hasn’t.
If nothing else, this diagnosis confirms what the rest of us have been saying: It’s time for him to withdraw from the race. There’s no shame in admitting he’s not up to the task– he’s 78 years old, for crying out loud. You’ve done your part, Bernie boy. It’s time to hang it up.
