Whiners are Wieners

Hey y’all!!  My name is Karen (but don’t worry, I won’t complain to your manager – Karen jokes, anyone?), and I’m incredibly excited to be part of the COTR community! I’m honored to take part in the mission to advance the cause of conservatism that openly dissects the nonsense we’re surrounded by in a witty and sarcastic manner. Writing has always had a special place in my heart and I’m humbled to be part of a team that promotes conservatism, devoid of political uptightness and pointless filters.

A few role models that I look up to and mirror in rhetoric (other than the Chicks, of course) include Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, Charlie Kirk, Steven Crowder, Dinesh D’Souza and many more. With that being said, I’m pursuing a law degree now that I have successfully completed my Bachelor’s degree in Government with Emphasis in Legal Studies. I will be taking the LSAT in November and applying for law school in March 2020! My passion to uphold conservatism and constitutional law is boundless.

I am a single mother and have a beautiful almost-seven-year-old daughter (the almost is very important to her); she is the catalyst for all of my motivation. She has her tendencies to be little miss ‘six going on 16’ but our mantra is, “whiners are wieners,” and the word wiener gets us back on the laughing train fairly quickly. Our laughter echoes throughout our home every day, we play music together, we love taking trips, learning new languages (yes, she’s learning Mandarin and we incorporate Spanish and Italian when we can – mind….blown…), and we value our cuddle-friendly forts for our weekend movie nights. We’re basically mastering the art of being awesome… *insert shifty eyes here*

I also work full-time but, even with all that I juggle, I’m intentional to find the humor in everything I do. I can be professional with the best of them but I will always seize a “that’s what she said” joke in a hot second. When I’m not laughing about innuendos, you can find me curled up in a cozy coffee shop with a book in my hand and a plethora of coffee that, at the rate I’m going, may as well be in an IV drip.

I faced quite the adversity at a young age while having grown up in a single-mother household on full government assistance, lived in Section-8 housing, to eventually living out of our vehicle for a majority of my high school experience. I worked odd jobs as a young teen to keep my family afloat because I knew I had to face the music if I wanted to overcome the circumstances I was given and achieve any of my dreams; when it comes down to it, whether you believe you can or you can’t, you’re right. You can bet your keister that I went back to high school, swallowed my pride of being the oldest in the class, and earned that diploma once my family was settled. Needless to say, my passion for positive and effective change is deeply rooted.

I’ve seen what pacifying the issues accomplishes – nothing. Absolutely nothing. Especially from a government and social standpoint. I want to contribute to real change with real expression for healthy longevity. I don’t want to kick rocks, I want to move mountains. So let’s cut the victimization crap (AHEM, LEFT WINGERS). After all, adversity is a platform for positive influence. Let’s get it, ladies!!
