McConnell Pushes Through Slate of Conservative Judges

Last night, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell approved four conservative judges and advanced another ten through the nomination process.

Senators stayed on the floor until 9:43 p.m., on a night when almost 15% of the Democratic Senate delegation was in Detroit for the Democratic Debate because SEVEN Democratic Senators are running for president:

On Tuesday night, Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) squared off on the debate stage.  While those three Democratic Senators went at it, Senators Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) prepared for their debate performance on Wednesday night.

What does it say that we let our elected officials skip out on their duties to campaign for a higher position?

President Trump and Senator McConnell are killing it when it comes to the judiciary.  Trump has made 135 judicial appointments, compared to 91 by Obama at this point in his presidency.  And McConnell has played a major role in pushing through judicial confirmations, including two Supreme Court Justices, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

This isn’t exactly breaking news, but it’s important to remember that the GOP-led Senate is working to put Trump-nominated, conservative judges on benches across the country.  One of the main reasons I voted for Trump in 2016 was the judiciary – specifically, fear of another four years of liberal appointments.  The judiciary is the last line of defense against insane legislative actions and should be the best protector of our Constitutional rights.  Unfortunately, leftist judges have shown time and time again that they are willing to twist the Constitution to their ideology.  Love Trump or hate him, conservatives can’t deny he’s doing a great job of retaking benches across the country.
