NBC Reporter Compares Human Impact On The Earth To An Alien Invasion

On Monday, the United Nations released a damning report, warning that booming human existence is quickly putting nearly 1 million of the planet’s plant and animal species at risk of extinction.

According to the report:

• 75% of land environment and some 66% of the marine environment “have been significantly altered by human actions.”

• “More than a third of the world’s land surface and nearly 75% of freshwater resources” are used for crops or livestock.

• “Up to $577 billion in annual global crops are at risk from pollinator loss.”

• Between 100 million and 300 million people now face “increased risk of floods and hurricanes because of loss of coastal habitats and protection.”

• Since 1992, the world’s urban areas have more than doubled.

• “Plastic pollution has increased tenfold since 1980,” and from “300-400 million tons of heavy metals, solvents, toxic sludge” and other industrial waste are dumped into the world’s water systems.

There’s reasons to be skeptical, with many believing that the UN– which is operated by the global elite– has an agenda and ideological bias.

Those who share the same agenda are, of course, on board with the ominous, doomsday report.

NBC News technology correspondent Jacob Ward appeared on MSNBC, calling humanity an “existential threat” and essentially comparing it to an “alien invasion.”

“One million, that is how many species are under fire, under the threat of extinction thanks to humans, a new terrifying United Nations report has found,” anchor Stephanie Ruhle said.

“Do you know why [this is happening]? Human actions. Human actions like urbanization, pollution, poaching, and climate change,” she continued.

“Yeah, you know, it really is devastating, Stephanie,” Ward said. “I mean, this is how dark the times are in the view of researchers….people are sort of getting ready for the horrors that this report is talking about. So it is dark times, I gotta say.”

“You look at it and you think this should be our great unifying moment, right?” he continued. “This is the moment when space aliens land with ray guns and are threatening all of us and we all band together like you see in the movies. This is it. And yet, that’s not somehow happening.”

Ruhle wasn’t sure how the average American would respond to the space alien comparison and jumped back in.

“For your average American at home, there are not space aliens coming out and saying, ‘We’re going to take you over.’ This is an intangible. So how do we help them understand?” she asked. “Because it’s not fair to put it that way.”

Ward softened his tone, but he didn’t necessarily back down. Instead, he wondered why humans aren’t heroically coming together and having an “Avengers” moment.

“I feel that it’s the kind of thing where we should be able to band together, we should be able to access something really basic in our programming that just says, ‘Existential threat, humanity, band together,’ and we’re not doing that for some reason,” he responded.
