Sen. Rand Paul says at least 10 other GOP senators will vote against President Trump’s emergency action. It sounds like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is acknowledging that reality as well.
“I think what is clear in the Senate is there will be enough votes to pass the resolution of disapproval, which will then be vetoed by the president and then, in all likelihood, the veto will be upheld in the House,” McConnell explained.
McConnell, who has worked closely with Trump on the tax system overhaul, the selection of conservative judges and other issues, acknowledged he had counseled the president against making the declaration. The Senate leader said he’s worried that Trump’s move would set a precedent for future Democratic presidents to make such a declaration for their own purposes.
“That’s one reason I argued, obviously without success to the president, that he not take this route,” McConnell said.
That’s fine and all, but the reality is, Democrats will make declarations in the future for their own purposes no matter what Trump does.

Meanwhile, Schumer is pretending to care about the Founding Fathers. It’s amusing.
Chuck Schumer: "We now know that a bipartisan resolution to terminate the president's national emergency has enough votes to pass the Senate … the Founding Fathers' exquisite balance of power is now being attempted to be undone by President Trump" https://t.co/9aQzNLCKqT pic.twitter.com/wQVAeKUznj
