Well, at least one stupid idea in San Francisco has been shot down.
A federal appeals court has blocked San Francisco’s dumb law requiring advertisers to put warnings on ads for sugary beverages.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says in a unanimous ruling Thursday that the law violates constitutionally protected commercial speech.
The judges granted a preliminary injunction that prevents the law from taking effect and kicked the case back to a lower court.
The American Beverage Association joined retail and advertising groups to sue to block the ordinance.
You see, the big daddy government in San Francisco believes that they can alter your behavior by forcing companies to warn you ON ADS that sugary drinks aren’t healthy…or whatever.
You could put any kind of warning you want on an ad for caramel macchiatos or my occasional Diet Coke, but it’s not going to stop me from buying ’em.
Try again, Nanny State.
