“Empire” star Jussie Smollett was brutally attacked by 2 men who beat him up, put his head in a noose and screamed, “This is MAGA country.”
Sources directly connected to Jussie tell TMZ, the actor arrived in Chicago from New York late Monday, and at around 2 AM he was hungry and went to a Subway. We’re told when he walked out, someone yelled, “Aren’t you that f***ot ‘Empire’ n*****?”
The 2 men — both white and wearing ski masks — viciously attacked Jussie as he fought back, but they beat him badly and fractured a rib. They put a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him and as they left they yelled, “This is MAGA country.”
As I’m sure you’d expect, libs all over social media were quick to blame this on Trump
Daily Caller, however, seems to think this is YET ANOTHER CASE of the MSM getting ahead of themselves to “get” Trump.
the Chicago Police Department has expressly disclaimed having any information about the assaulters’ race or political views:
Several media outlets referenced claims that appeared in TMZ’s coverage of this matter, most notably that the perpetrators were white and yelled “this is MAGA country,” as they attacked Smollett. But a spokesperson for the Chicago police denied having any information about the race and political views of the attackers.
“According to the victim, the offenders’ faces were concealed,” a police spokesperson told Reason. “We have no record indicating that [they shouted ‘MAGA’], we only have record of them shouting racial and homophobic slurs at him.”
“We have no record of The MAGA Country comment,” said the police in a statement. “We have racial and homophobic comments documented.”
Chicago police have now combed through HUNDREDS of hours of surveillance videos.
They haven’t found anything related to the attack.
According to Daily Mail:
Chicago police investigating the alleged attack on Empire star Jussie Smollett said that so far, they have failed to find any surveillance footage showing the actor being beaten by two men shouting ‘this is MAGA country’.
An official said Wednesday that detectives have reviewed CCTV video of Smollett walking to his apartment building in downtown Chicago Tuesday morning, and ‘for the most part’ they can confirm the route he took when he says he was accosted by the assailants.
…
Guglielmi said detectives investigating the allegations as a possible hate crime, have looked at hundreds of hours of surveillance video from businesses and hotels in the heavily monitored area.
But he said they still need to collect and view more. He said they are expanding the search to include footage from public buses and buildings beyond the crime scene’s immediate vicinity in the hopes of spotting the men who match Mollett’s description of the suspects.
‘We haven’t seen anybody, at this point, matching the description he gave, nobody looks menacing and we didn’t find a container anywhere,’ Guglielmi said, referring to a container for the liquid that was thrown at the actor.
But if it happened as described… they’ll find it.
Chicago has one of the most sophisticated and extensive video surveillance systems in the US, with thousands of CCTV cameras mounted on street poles, skyscrapers, buses and in train tunnels.
And here’s an interesting detail…
It was previously reported that just a week before the alleged attack, Fox offered the singer and actor based in Chicago an entourage of body guards for protection after the show’s studio received a threatening, homophobic letter addressed to Smollett.
But Smollett declined around-the-clock security because he found it intrusive, according to TMZ.
The letter threatening Smollett was sent to the Fox studio on January 22, cops said according to ABC, and was laced with a powdery substance believed to be Tylenol.
This is all very …interesting.
I don’t know. As I said before, this just doesn’t sit right with me. There’s a lot more to this story we don’t know. Something’s weird.
