January 3, 2019Mitt Romney gave his first big interview of the year to CNN. Big shocker there.
During the interview, he attempted to explain what inspired his divisive op-ed on President Trump. He claims he was inspired by Trump’s decision to pull out of Syria.

“But in matters that relate to the divisiveness that’s been part of our political environment, I’ll speak out if I feel a need to, if there is something significant,” Romney said.
So he’s going to fight against divisiveness by being unnecessarily divisive. Got it.
“And I think it’s important, as I begin this new job, to make it very clear where I stand,” he continued. “And I also note that the departure of Secretary Mattis and the decision to pull out of Syria and the abrupt way it was done was a precipitating event for my finally going on this record.”

Romney also said that he can’t commit to support Trump in 2020. He wants to see who the “alternatives” are first.
