People Are Wondering If Tucker Carlson Is Turning His Back On Trump

I’ve seen a ton of gleeful headlines from the Huffington Posts of the world. This one from Yahoo is actually titled, “Tucker Carlson on Trump: ‘I don’t think he’s capable.'”

Yikes. Is it true? Is Tucker Carlson turning his back on Trump?

Here’s the deal. Carlson participated in an interview with the conservative Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche.

In it, Carlson expresses his dissatisfaction with Trump’s style. He’s not into his boastful attitude, which is fine. It rubs a lot of people the wrong way. However, I think his attitude was and is necessary. Without it, we would’ve ended up with someone like Jeb! Bush, who would have lost to Hillary Clinton. We needed someone who gave no craps and continues to give no craps (when it comes to pleasing the world).

Carlson also talked about how Trump hasn’t kept his key promises.

“His chief promises were that he would build the wall, defund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare, and he hasn’t done any of those things,” Carlson said. “I’ve come to believe that Trump’s role is not as a conventional president who promises to get certain things achieved to the Congress and then does.”

He said it’s been about beginning “the conversation about what actually matters.”

He’s been GREAT at that.

To be fair, Trump does need Congress to get on the same page. Perhaps he thought that would be easier once he got into office. Maybe it’s swampier than he suspected.

“I don’t think he’s capable of sustained focus,” Carlson continued. “I don’t think he understands the system. I don’t think the Congress is on his side. I don’t think his own agencies support him.”

Congress isn’t on his page, and his own agencies don’t support him. That seems fairly evident.

“In order to do it you really have to understand how it works and you have to be very focused on getting it done, and he knows very little about the legislative process, hasn’t learned anything, hasn’t … surrounded himself with people that can get it done, hasn’t done all the things you need to do so,” Carlson added.

I wouldn’t say Carlson is turning his back on Trump. He’s not a fan of his style (which is fair) and is frustrated that the key promises– like building a wall and repealing Obamacare– haven’t been fulfilled. But it’s also important to remember that we have seen progress in other areas. We withdrew from the horrific Iran Deal. We withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord. We moved U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. We replaced NAFTA. The economy is booming. And let’s not forget about our two new Supreme Court Justices.

Trump clearly wants to make his key promises happen, but I certainly lose a little hope, just knowing that Queen Pelosi is on her way to reclaim her kingdom in the House.
