California Rep. Barbara Lee lost her to become the first black woman in House leadership today.
According to the L.A. Times:
California Rep. Barbara Lee on Wednesday lost her bid to become the first black woman elected to a House leadership position and the first woman to lead the House Democratic Caucus.
By a vote of 123 to 113, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York won the race to lead the caucus for the next two years. Both are members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Several members cast Jeffries, 48, as a promising young leader who could one day become speaker. Lee, 72, said afterward that ageism and sexism were at play in the result.
And racism. The LA Times conveniently forgot to mention she brought her race up.
.@RepBarbaraLee, 72, said afterward that ageism and sexism were at play in losing the Dem caucus chair race.
“I’m a black woman and the institutional barriers are still there, so we just keep fighting,” Lee said. https://t.co/ki7xYnSgrl— Sarah D. Wire (@sarahdwire) November 28, 2018
Why did they leave that out for her?
Because Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York won the race to lead the caucus for the next two years. Both are members of the Congressional Black Caucus.
Sooo the whole “I’m a black woman” think doesn’t even make sense. He’s a black man. Where are HIS “institutional barriers?
Just a Democrat being a Democrat.
Must be awesome being her. Never take responsibility for your shortcomings. Always blame somebody else or “the system”.

But it gets a little stickier when they start cannibalizing themselves as sexist racists, dontcha think?
