Peak Insanity: Author Claims ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Is Racist Because It Discriminates Against Orcs

Full disclosure: I’m not a “Lord of the Rings” super fan, but I enjoy the story. It’s really easy to get into “nerd” territory (and I use that term in the most endearing way), but just know that I am not one of those people. I don’t have an in-depth analysis of the individual characters and timeframe and all of those details. I watched the movies and like the story.

Those of you who have read the books or seen the movies are familiar with those nasty creatures, orcs.

As you can see, they’re evil and gross. FACT.

But because we live in a screwed up PC world, some science fiction writer, Andy Duncan, is suggesting that “Lord of the Rings” is “racist” because it discriminates against the evil creatures.

The criticism comes despite Tolkien being known as a fierce critic of racism, particularly the Nazi Germany regime in the 1930s and 40s.

But Duncan told podcast Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy, run by Wired Magazine: ‘It’s hard to miss the repeated notion in Tolkien that some races are just worse than others, or that some peoples are just worse than others.

‘And this seems to me – in the long term, if you embrace this too much – it has dire consequences for yourself and for society.’

This isn’t about race, you raging twitwhizzle. This is about FICTIONAL, murderous evil creatures that were used as soldiers for an EVIL ARMY OMG.

Duncan has previously written a parody set in Tolkien’s Middle-earth universe called Senator Bilbo about a right-wing Hobbit politician opposing the immigration of orcs into The Shire.

Yeah. He’s THAT guy.

Speaking about this story to the podcast, he added: ‘I can easily imagine that a lot of these people that were doing the dark lord’s bidding were doing so out of simple self preservation and so forth.

‘A lot of these creatures that were raised out of the earth had not a great deal of choice in the matter of what to do. I have this very complicated sense of the politics of all that.’

It’s a fictional story. Get a grip. Orcs don’t have a story. They’re evil creatures. The end.

Oh wait– it gets better. Duncan actually compared orcs to modern day refugees/migrants, which I think is a HUGE slap in the face to those people, who are Actually Humans.

He added: ‘It is easier to demonise one’s opponents than to try to understand them and to understand the complex forces that are leading to, for example, refugees trying to cross the southern border [of the US] legally or illegally.

‘It’s easier to build walls and demonise them as “scum”.’

Dude– you’re the one comparing them to orcs!

There’s your PC insanity for the day. Liberals are so nuts that they want justice for evil fictional creatures.
