Alex Trebek Weighs In On The #MeToo Movement, And Now I’m Scratching My Head

I know, I know. That’s a headline precisely no one desired.

It’s true. While the “Jeopardy” host is believed to lean to the left, he didn’t blindly jump aboard the #MeToo movement train. When the movement first started, he reportedly warned “Jeopardy!” staffers that it would be a scary time for men.

“You know, when the #MeToo movement started, I had discussions with the staff during production meetings,” he said during an interview with Vulture. “I said, ‘My gosh, this has got to be a scary time for men.'”

OK. That’s reasonable. But then I got to this remark, and I’m very confused.

“I’m fortunate that I’ve never been in a position of power where I might be able to lord it over somebody sexually,” he continued. “I said, ‘But there are guys out there — young guys are stupid in their teens.’ There’s nothing stupider than a teenage boy. They’re operating on testosterone.”

HOOOOLD UP. What in the world was that remark all about? “I’m fortunate that I’ve never been in a position of power where I might be able to lord it over somebody sexually”? Sooooooo you’re telling me that, had you been given a position of power, you would’ve possibly used said power to sexually abuse ladies? But since you’ve never had that opportunity, it didn’t happen? WTH? Am I misunderstanding him? Someone PLEASE help me out here.
