Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who recently compared Jews to termites, has quite a past with Rep. Keith Ellison, although Ellison wants you to think it’s WAAAAAY in the past.
He attempted to portray his relationship with Farrakhan as old news during the Minnesota attorney general debate on Sunday.
He said he thought Farrakhan had “something to offer” in the 1990s, because he was out there “speaking to issues of African American civil rights.”
The Daily Caller notes that Farrakhan called Hitler a “very great man” in the ’80s, but that’s neither here nor there I suppose.
Keith Ellison defends his ties to Louis Farrakhan, saying Farrakhan had "some things to offer" in the early 1990s.

In 1993, Farrakhan told women: "You're a failure if you can't keep a man."
In 1994, Farrakhan said: "Murder and lying comes easy for white people."
All this came *before* Ellison praised him as "a role model" in 1995, and was photographed selling Farrakhan's newspaper in 1998. pic.twitter.com/5dvnDHTSoB

But now? Now he’s SO NOT FRIENDS with Farrakhan. Please ignore the fact that Ellison was involved with him even after he (Ellison) was elected to Congress in 2006.
Ellison attended three meetings where Farrakhan was present while he was serving in Congress.
One of those meetings was a private hotel meeting in 2015 between Ellison, Farrakhan and Democratic Indiana Rep. Andre Carson.
Two of the three attendees — Carson and Farrakhan — have admitted that the meeting took place, while Ellison has repeatedly denied that it did.
Ellison also in 2013 attended a private dinner for American Muslim leaders hosted by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Farrakhan was among the attendees.
Johari Abdul-Malik, then director at Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center in Virginia, uploaded a YouTube video in 2013 that shows Ellison casually chatting among a crowd of men, including Farrakhan.
So no. Ellison didn’t cut ties with Farrakhan in the ’90s. They’ve been in contact in recent years.
Ellison is a LIAR. Don’t believe him.
