The ‘Slut Walk’ has been going on for a few years and to be honest… I don’t get it.
It’s about feminism. But also dressing like a “slut.” But also no one calling you a slut for dressing like a slut. Even though you just called yourself a slut. You know, because it’s called the SLUT Walk.
…or something.
Anyway, Will Witt WENT to the Slut Walk to get to the bottom of this.
It’s…interesting.
Witt asked a number of people what they were doing there:
“I’m here today because I’m trying to encourage people to stop slut-shaming.” Ok… fair enough.
“I’m here to exercise my right to stand up for what I believe in. Gonna do what I want with my body and with my life.” That’s your prerogative. Alright.
Aaaaand then there’s: “Until y’all have to have a period every month and give life, then you can say something. Until then, you get nothing.”
Um. Wut? I’ve never had a baby. Do I “get nothing?” “Nothing” of what? I don’t get anything? I’m… so confused. Maybe that’s her point. I’m so confused because I “get nothing.”
Is this like a “You know nothing, John Snow” kinda thing?
Then they explain how being a “slut” is “empowering” and about a “person trying to find theirself.” So um… that’s nice?
YEEEEAH…I still don’t get it.
I guess we’ll try again next year.
