After President Trump answered questions on trade in the Rose Garden, he took some questions on Kavanaugh. Reporters asked him if the White House was limiting the FBI’s investigation, and he laid it all out there.
Short answer: No.
NBC News incorrectly reported (as usual) that I was limiting the FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh, and witnesses, only to certain people. Actually, I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion. Please correct your reporting!

He said he’s asking for everything within the bounds of what the SENATE wants. Not him personally.
"The FBI should do what they have to do to get to the answer. At the same time, just so we understand, this is our 7th investigation of a man who has really … [he] has never had any accusation," @POTUS says https://t.co/pox12C4iJr pic.twitter.com/Ky5u1NDx5p

He added that the FBI should interview anyone they want within reason, but at the end of the day, he doesn’t want this to turn into a witch hunt.
The FBI should interview "Anybody they want, within reason," @POTUS says. "But be guided. And I am guided by what the senators are looking for, they have to make the choice." https://t.co/pox12C4iJr pic.twitter.com/uRwQ9wqhl3

Even though he’s not limiting the scope of the investigation, he said he wants it conducted quickly, because it’s not fair to Kavanaugh and his family.
"I'd like it to go quickly. And the reason is very simple, so simple, because it is unfair to him at this point. What his wife is going through, what is beautiful children are going through, is not describable," @POTUS says of FBI's Kavanaugh investigation https://t.co/pox12C4iJr pic.twitter.com/DyE7DwOegJ

Reporter: Should Brett Kavanaugh be interviewed by the FBI?@POTUS: I think so. I think it's fine if they do. I don't know, that's up to them. https://t.co/pox12C4iJr pic.twitter.com/r3qDVps2jq

The longer this thing lasts, the longer MSM will drag his family through the mud. It’s simply not fair to them.
This line made me laugh out loud.
"I think the press has treated me unbelievably unfairly … They are worse now than ever. They are loco, but that's okay, I deal with it. I use that word [loco], because of the fact that we made a deal with Mexico," @POTUS says https://t.co/pox12C4iJr pic.twitter.com/px3N9by5BK

HAHAHAHAHA. Dead.
He even blasted Dianne Feinstein BY NAME, and it was great. She HAD this information for MONTHS. She waited until we were close to confirming him and dropped this bomb. He said she probably leaked the letter but couldn’t say for sure and mentioned her awkward body language. Yep. He went there!

At that point, another reporter asked Trump if he’d pull his nomination if Kavanaugh lied about having a drinking problem, and Trump said he didn’t think he lied. He then joked a little bit and mentioned that he’s never had a glass of alcohol. “One of my only good traits,” he said. Even though he was joking, he made a great point. Can you IMAGINE how he would’ve been skewered if he did enjoy an occasional beer? He would’ve been characterized as a raging alcoholic by now too.
"I can honestly say I've never had a beer in my life. One of my only good traits. I don't drink," @POTUS says. "Can you imagine if I had, what a mess I be? I'd be the world's worst." https://t.co/pox12C4iJr pic.twitter.com/3gSzQMVtnR

At the end of the day, Trump said that Kavanaugh is an outstanding person who has been treated terribly. Although he added that if the FBI found something– something LEGIT– he would obviously take it into consideration.

I don’t know about you, but that was a really entertaining press conference for me.
