Elizabeth Smart Responds To Absolutely Horrifying News About Her Kidnapper

As I mentioned earlier, one of Elizabeth Smart’s kidnappers is set to be released on September 13th.

The news comes as a shock to everyone, as most did not anticipate her being eligible for release until 2024.

Smart’s father mentioned Elizabeth was truly concerned about the possibility of her or her children being confronted by her kidnapper… a fear I truly cannot wrap my head around.

Elizabeth is now speaking out…

According to Fox News:

Smart, now 30, said in a statement that she was surprised and disappointed to learn of Barzee’s imminent release.

I can’t begin to IMAGINE what must be going through her head.

“It is incomprehensible how someone who has not cooperated with her mental health evaluations or risk assessments and some who did not show up to her own parole hearing can be released into our community,” Smart said in a statement released just hours after the board decision was made public. “I am trying to understand how and why this is happened and exploring possible options.”

We didn’t even KNOW she was being this uncooperative.

This is INSANE.

They’re letting a completely uncooperative MADWOMAN out free.  A woman who helped kidnap and rape a CHILD for NINE MONTHS.

If she hurts someone… it’s ENTIRELY on the board that let her out.

She said she would speak publicly about Barzee’s release in the coming days once she has “a better understanding.”

“I appreciate the support, love and concern that has already been expressed and will work diligently to address the issue of Barzee’s release as well as to ensure changes are made moving forward to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else in the future,” Smart added.

My prayers are with Elizabeth and her family.

As I mentioned before, I had the pleasure and honor of hearing her speak once and was truly moved by her courage and strength. I have no doubt she will come out of this as strong as ever – but my heart hurts for her either way.
