You know that BLUE WAVE the Democrats were so cocky about?
I think it’s safe to say they’re not feeling quiiiiiite so cocky anymore.
Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez is basically warning people not to let their expectations get too high:
THOSE, my friends, are the words of someone who knows he’s about to get OBLITERATED.
Sure winners don’t say “Better luck next time” BEFORE the race.
“And you know what folks, I’d ask you one more thing; you know if it doesn’t work this time, I hope you’ll keep doing it,” Perez told a group of Democrats in Tennessee earlier this week.
“I met a lot of folks who are now in the Virginia House of Delegates, one of whom lost by 52 votes the first time around, she immediately declared the next year and her opponent retired, he didn’t want to have a rematch. So I hope you’ll be persistent because I hope you’ll all win now but I hope you’re all thinking about this as a long-term investment.”
TRANSLATION: don’t get your hopes up. Maybe, later on, you’ll win because someone gets too old to fight you.
WOMP WOOOOMP.
It’s safe to say that Blue Wave is turning into a Blue Wave of Disappointment, eh?
