Last weekend in Chicago was extremely violent. Over 50 people were shot.
If that happened anywhere else, it would be all over the news. But this is par for the course in the Windy City.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel tried to address the situation shortly after, and his response was horrific.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel after weekend of violence that left 11 dead: “What happened this weekend did not happen in every neighborhood in Chicago, but it is unacceptable to happen in any neighborhood of Chicago.” https://t.co/uvOd3WNfKY pic.twitter.com/akNpKjB429

“What happened this weekend did not happen in every neighborhood in Chicago…” Was that supposed to make everyone feel better? Is that the silver lining? Because NO.
He also said that people did not pull the trigger, which was extremely helpful to hear. //sarc.

Unfortunately, it looks like it’s yet another violent weekend in the city. From Fox:
Since around 6:15 a.m., at least four men have been wounded by gunfire in separate incidents and various neighborhoods, the Chicago Tribune was reporting on Saturday. Among them was a 33-year-old who suffered a leg wound, a 29-year-old shot on his left side, and a 26-year-old who sustained three shooting injuries to his leg, according to the outlet.
The 33-year-old was reportedly in good condition, while the latter two were said to have been stabilized. All three received treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital, the outlet reported, citing police.
A fourth man, 28, was taken to Stroger Hospital and listed in serious condition after being struck in his chest, leg and stomach during a shooting, The Tribune reported.
Two other people – a boy and a man – were also shot during the early-morning hours on Saturday.
Additionally, Fox News reports that “several other shootings” occurred since Friday.
Something has to change, but having a mayor who dismisses the the violence by saying stupid stuff like, “people did not pull the trigger” DOES NOT help.
