The world is losing its darn mind.
The World Health Organization is no longer considering gender dysphoria a mental illness, even though it most certainly IS a form of a mental illness.
It’s not normal. That’s not an insult to you or the fabric of your being or your worth as a human. But for crying out loud. If you don’t feel like you’re actually your biological gender, that’s abnormal. That signifies a mental problem.
Except not according to the World Health Organization.
Gender dysphoria is no longer considered as a mental disorder by the World Health Organization.
The UN agency yesterday released its latest edition of the International Classification of Diseases.
In the document, it removed the term gender dysphoria as a mental health disorder – and renamed it as gender incongruence.
Chiefs also listed video game addiction as a mental health condition for the first time in the same landmark move.
So let me get this straight. Video game addiction is a mental health condition, but gender dysphoria isn’t a mental health disorder?
On what planet does that make sense?
Sally Goldner, a spokesperson for Transgender Victoria – an organization that fights for the rights of trans people, told Gay Star News: ‘It is huge.
‘It’s big because a big powerful organization is sending an affirming message saying being trans is part of human diversity rather than pathologizing us.’
It’s not part of human diversity though. It’s a mental issue that needs to be taken seriously.
The World Health Organization is doing a disservice to people who are seriously struggling with gender dysphoria. Patting them on the head and saying, “There there– here are some hormones,” isn’t an answer. It’s cruel.
