Ahead of Independence Day, our First Lady Melania spent the day visiting with those who have put their very lives on the line fighting for our Freedoms:
I had a wonderful visit to @WRBethesda today. Thank you to the many dedicated service members & medical staff who take such good care of our men & women in uniform. pic.twitter.com/iPjxyRhY4H

THIS is why I love her.
According to Daily Mail:
Melania Trump surprised injured service members and their families at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, on Tuesday morning ahead of the Fourth of July.
The 48-year-old first lady looked patriotic in a navy blouse tucked into a pair of navy culotte pants for her visit to the Washington-area hospital, which the White House did not publicly announce until after she arrived.
Stephanie Grisham, the first lady’s spokeswoman, tweeted in the morning that Melania was visiting with ‘combat injured service members and their families.’
.@FLOTUS has just arrived to @WRBethesda for an unannounced visit to combat injured service members & their families. This administration will never stop supporting our men & women in uniform & the families who love them. Thank you!!! 🇺🇸

Among those she visited with was U.S. Army Captain Luis Avila, “who was left almost completely paralyzed after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated nearby him during a combat tour in 2011.”

As we celebrate our freedoms and independence this week, it’s important to think of people like Captain Avila.
While the blast killed three of his fellow soldiers, Luis suffered an amputation of his left leg, two strokes, two heart attacks, and a severe lack of oxygen that caused anoxic brain damage.
After being in a coma for forty days, Luis has been seeking extensive therapy at the medical center.
In the photo that Melania tweeted, he is wearing his decorated military uniform, and she is posed with her cheek right next to his as they both smile for the camera.
We owe him, and thousands upon thousands of brave men and women like him EVERYTHING.
It’s wonderful to have a FLOTUS who acknowledges and celebrates that.
She also paid a visit to a few people she may already know…
Melania also visited the medical center’s gym and posed for a photo with the hospital’s staffers.

In May, she was a patient at the hospital and stayed there for five days following her kidney surgery.
There is no doubt she’s immensely grateful for their care.
I hope everyone has a lovely Independence Day with friends and family, and takes a moment to think about all those who have fought to gain our Independence and defend our Freedoms!
