By now, you’ve seen TIME’s dishonest cover.

That particular child has become a symbol for the left. She represents the children Trump is personally TORTURING by RIPPING them out of their parents’ arms.
Except…that young girl was never taken from her mother. Like at all. The girl’s father actually said that the mother ditched him and their other three children without even telling them.
“I never got the chance to say goodbye to my daughter and now all I can do is wait,” the girl’s father said. “I don’t have any resentment for my wife, but I do think it was irresponsible of her to take the baby with her in her arms because we don’t know what could happen.”
He reiterated that the two– the mother and daughter– are currently together. They’ve been together.
TIME’s initial response? It stood by the cover.

Even though TIME’s really not sorry, it ultimately issued the mother of all corrections anyway. I think editors deliberately slipped the correction in there without making a fuss about it, because they didn’t want anyone to really notice. For crying out loud, this was trending for two days. The correction should’ve been a big deal.
I have a better correction. “The original version of this story was #FakeNews.”
Yep. Much better.
