Teen Girl ‘Humiliated’ After School Forced Her To Put Band-Aid’s Over Her Nipular Area

This is quite a little controversy.

Lizzy Martinez, a 17-year-old Florida high school student, says she was humiliated after school officials forced her to put Band-Aid’s over her nipular areas.

A little context would be helpful.

You see, Martinez decided to go to school without a bra that day. She wore a gray t-shirt. It wasn’t see-through, but other students noticed she wasn’t wearing a bra. School Dean Violeta Velazquez eventually called Martinez into her office. Apparently, “Martinez felt like she was being bullied by fellow students, but Velazquez said there was a distraction that needed to be addressed.”

They tried making her layer her shirt, to no avail. Eventually, they suggested that she cover her nipular areas with Band-Aids.

‘She told me that I needed to put a shirt on under my long-sleeve shirt to try to tighten my breasts – to constrict them,’ Martinez told the paper. ‘And then she asked me to move around.’

Apparently the second shirt was not enough, Martinez said, because she was then sent to the nurse’s office. The nurse handed Martinez four bandages, two to cover each nipple, leaving her in tears.

She tweeted about the entire ordeal afterward.

I decided not to wear a bra today and got pulled out of class bc one of my teachers complained that it was a “distraction to boys in my class.” My school basically told me that boys’ education is far more important than mine and I should be ashamed of my body. @Manateeschools 🙂

they said my outfit was “distracting others” lmk how a long sleeve t-shirt and jeans are distracting.. smh at body shaming if another girl with smaller boobs or a guy was wearing my t-shirt it wouldn’t have been “inappropriate”

I really wouldn’t call this “body-shaming.” I’d call it, “if you have bigger boobs and have to sit in class with teenage boys, wear a bra.”

The school eventually responded.

This matter was brought to the attention of the Superintendent’s Office for review,’ the district’s general counsel, Mitchell Teitelbaum, said in a prepared statement.

‘It is undisputed that this matter should have been handled differently at the school level and corrective measures have been taken to prevent a reoccurrence in the way these matters will be addressed in the future.’

However, Teitelbaum went on to suggest that she violated the school’s dress code.

‘You are expected to dress appropriately for school and for the business of learning with proper attention given to personal cleanliness, grooming and neatness,’ the district’s Code of Student Conduct states.

Look– I’m not saying the school handled it the right way, but I think it’s common sense. If I was the mother of a teenager and she had big boobs and wanted to go to school braless, I wouldn’t allow it. You can say it’s “not fair,” because girls with small boobs can get away with it, but get over it. That’s life. If you’re a teen with bigger boobs, you should lock those babies up during school. You’re surrounded by hormonal teens. Boys are gross and girls are mean. Just wear a freaking bra. I don’t think it’s a big deal.
