President Trump didn’t attend the White House Correspondents’ Dinner last year…
I will not be attending the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner this year. Please wish everyone well and have a great evening!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2017
…and it looks like he’s not attending this year either. It’s pretty significant. After all, POTUS always attends. Besides Trump, Ronald Reagan was the last president to miss the event (in 1981), but that was only because he was recovering from an assassination attempt.
Very legit excuse.
MSM treats Trump like crap, so I get it. Although I’m not gonna lie– I’d love to see Trump roast them on stage there.
Trump on the White House correspondents association dinner: “I probably won’t do it”…”I sort of feel that the press is so bad,”….”It’s so fake, it’s so made up. I mean, ‘sources say’ and they have no sources. They’re like novelists. I call them novelists.”

However, he’s sending a replacement: Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
NEW: Pres. Trump will not attend this year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, WHCA says, but will “actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend.”

“The White House has informed us that the president does not plan to participate in this year’s dinner but that he will actively encourage members of the executive branch to attend and join us as we celebrate the First Amendment. In keeping with tradition, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders also will represent the administration at the head table. The April 28 dinner celebrates award-winning reporting, scholarship winners and the vital role of the First Amendment and the free press in American democracy.”
— WHCA President Margaret Talev
He’s still going to encourage members of the executive branch to attend, but as predicted, lefties are saying he’s too scared to go.
BREAKING: Trump plans to again skip the White House Correspondents’ Dinner

Scared of baseball stadiums, scared of ballrooms full of journalists but expects us to believe he would run into an active shooter situation https://t.co/JKyx6pzRCg

Remember when we had Presidents who were not afraid to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner?
— Edan Clay 🌊 (@EdanClay) April 6, 2018
And the Coward won’t go to the White house correspondents dinner! His teeny weeny ego would burst! What a joke! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
— Beerboozingclown (@IanMcKa89739255) April 6, 2018
Orrrrrrr he doesn’t want to be fake and rub elbows with people who openly loathe him? I don’t think it’s because he can’t take a joke. He’s very self-deprecating during his rally-style speeches. (Remember when he rubbed his bald spot at CPAC?) It’s just not the same when you’re in a room full of people who openly hate you and lie about you every single day.
Can’t blame the President on not attending. Why would anyone want to sit in a room and have dinner with so many biased, politically motivated ‘fake news’ reporters posing as ‘objective journalists’? #ma4t https://t.co/xeShIixKHC

Exactly.
