Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Will Testify Before Congress

Last month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg spoke to CNN and said he’d be “happy” to testify before Congress “if it’s the right thing to do.”

It looks like he decided it’s the “right thing to do” after all. It’s happening. Zuckerberg will testify before a Congressional panel April 11th.

He’s set to appear before the House Energy and Commerce Committee next Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. ET to talk about the “company’s use and protection of user data.”

Reps. Greg Walden and Frank Pallone, Jr., the chair and ranking member of the committee, respectively, said in a statement that the hearing “will be an important opportunity to shed light on critical consumer data privacy issues and help all Americans better understand what happens to their personal information online.”

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) released the following statement after confirming that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will testify before the committee on Wednesday, April 11th, at 10:00 a.m. regarding the company’s use and protection of user data.

“This hearing will be an important opportunity to shed light on critical consumer data privacy issues and help all Americans better understand what happens to their personal information online. We appreciate Mr. Zuckerberg’s willingness to testify before the committee, and we look forward to him answering our questions on April 11th,” said Walden and Pallone.
