Sorry. I refuse to let this slide.
Earlier this year, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act failed to pass in the Senate. Only three Democratic senators– Joe Manchin, Bob Casey and Joe Donnelly– voted in favor of the bill. That means that almost every single Democrat in Congress is cool with murdering babies who feel pain.
Good to know.
Republican senators made very compelling arguments. I mean, “THEY CAN FEEL PAIN” should be able to stand on its own, but Democratic lawmakers are ignorant and selfish and need elaboration.
Meet Micah Pickering, born at 22wks. He just turned 5! The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act would save kids like him. #ProLife #TheyFeelPain pic.twitter.com/xS1mqHacHP

This means almost DOUBLE the number of people support banning painful abortions after 5 months, compared to those who oppose a ban.
The people are on our side.
The science is on our side.
The House already passed the bill.Now it’s the Senate’s turn.#ProLife #TheyFeelPain pic.twitter.com/JQLaeXcY1j

Today, the Senate has the chance to pass legislation that protects children by banning elective abortion after 20 weeks. 20 weeks is 5 months. A baby at that stage can sleep, suck his thumb, & survive outside the womb. That child deserves the right to choose life. #TheyFeelPain

I urge my Senate colleagues to join me today in voting to support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This is reasonable legislation that would minimize human suffering caused by abortion and protect the rights of all unborn children. #ProLife #TheyFeelPain pic.twitter.com/ylCzLDhEM3

There’s significant scientific evidence that at 5 months of development, these babies can feel pain. They will scrunch their eyes and clench their hands and pull back their limbs in response to pain – just like any other child experiencing pain.

Sen. Joni Ernst crushed it. She laid it ALL out there.
Sen. Joni Ernst, R-IA, gave an impassioned floor speech describing fetal development milestones that occur around 20 weeks in the womb. These babies have “grown nails on their fingers and on their toes. Hair has just begun to grow on their heads,” she said. “These babies can detect light, hear sounds – they can swallow and even experience taste as their taste buds grow and develop.”
Ernst showed her colleagues side-by-side images of Micah Pickering. One photo shows baby Micah, born prematurely at five months and grasping his parents’ hands. The other shows him now, a healthy five-year-old boy.
Babies “even younger than Micah” have been born prematurely and survived, explained Ernst. “Despite the clear evidence of the humanity of these children, the U.S. is one of only seven countries…in the world to allow abortions after five months of development.”
How can you possibly counter that? These babies have heartbeats, fingers and toes. They can hear their momma’s voice. They can feel pain. What’s the counter argument?
A really crappy one. Cue Elizabeth Warren. Her argument? Getting an abortion is like, more chill than getting your tonsils out.
She actually said that.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, said abortion is “safer” than having one’s tonsils removed. She shared a story from a couple who did what was “best for their baby girl. They got an abortion in the third trimester,” she said.
I can’t get past that. It’s “safer” than getting tonsils out? Unless there’s some sort of medical disaster, no one dies during a tonsillectomy. (I’ve had one.) The same can’t be said of abortion. Someone always dies. How freaking INSULTING is it to compare a precious baby to inflamed TONSILS? I am livid. These people are despicable.
Warren quoted another post-abortive parent who called abortion an “act of mercy.”
The choice whether to abort their babies late in pregnancy should be left to “broken-hearted parents,” said Warren, and preventing this would be “dangerous and cruel.”
Late-term abortion is one of the “wrenching decisions that a woman will ever make,” Warren said. Warren said the time before abortion on demand was legal was one of “back-alley butchers and wrecked lives.”
No. It’s not an “act of mercy.” I don’t care if the child has a disability. Don’t even get me STARTED on that. You don’t want to go there with me, Warren. Disabled people are ABSOLUTELY capable of having enriched and wonderful lives. They deserve a chance.
And these people call us heartless? They dare stand up and say they want to protect our kids from violence in schools? They won’t even stand up and protect them from violence in the womb. No. Democrats can’t claim the moral high ground here. Nope. Never. I’m done.
