Russian Lawmaker’s Hair Is the Subject Of Bewilderment, Wonder And Disgust

This is totally non-political. It’s not even really cultural either. Consider this your “What in the world did I just see?” post of the day.

Yep. It’s one of those days. Just hang in with me.

Meet Valentina Petrenko. She’s a 62-year-old legislator in Russia, and her legendary hair broke the internet. I mean, look at it. I’m still trying to figure it out. It’s truly a thing to behold.

I just…how?! What am I even looking at right now? I don’t know if I’m horrified or extremely impressed. And can we just talk about how much storage space she has all up in there?

What’s her secret?

Apparently, it’s just a perm and bobby pin work.

“I simply have curly hair, and hold it up with a few pins. That’s all!” she says.

Her giant perm has been a political hit in Russia for years but has just been discovered among English-speaking users online.

But the senator is less keen on the attention and says she just lifts it up with hair pins, Newsweek reports.

Here’s a cool thing about her, since I know people are going to be furious over the general stupidity of this post.

Petrenko has been a member of the country’s Federation Council since 2001, and once helped to negotiate the release of child hostages at a school.
