This keeps getting nuttier and nuttier.
First, we found out that the deputy on duty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School refused to engage with the shooter. The deputy resigned. (BTW– he thought he did a good job.
JUST IN: Broward Sheriff says armed school resource deputy who was on duty at Stoneman Douglas the day of the shooting has been suspended without pay pending investigation; Sheriff Israel says the deputy opted to resign/retire. https://t.co/WyLmaDb2n0 pic.twitter.com/ApSeQbZV70

I need to stop saying “it couldn’t get any worse,” because it almost always does.
As it turns out, FOUR Broward County deputies waited outside the school as the shooter carried out his massacre.
I hope @browardsheriff department is sued off the face of the Earthhttps://t.co/TNCqa0MQmO pic.twitter.com/frYCv00eLp

What’s even more unbelievable? Sheriff Israel had the gall to tell Dana Loesch she wasn’t standing for the victims of that tragedy.
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel to NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch: “You just told this group of people that you are standing up for them. You’re not standing up for them until you say, ‘I want less weapons’” https://t.co/Z1Yni5mWFU #StudentsStandUp https://t.co/OcM90XPz7a

Looks like someone owes Dana an apology. He should also step down ASAP. How DARE he demonize the NRA when his own department FAILED.
Scott Israel lied to an entire national audience by suggesting his department had done everything to protect the kids of Parkland. #ResignSheriffIsrael

How dare you lie to the American people and put the blame on law-abiding gun owners. #ResignSheriffIsrael

#ResignSheriffIsrael is the first hashtag that I am legitimately happy to see trending in a while. Enough is enough.

I stand united with those who are a part of law enforcement, but not those who undermine the police’s relationship with the community because they refuse to do their job: protect and serve and enforce the law. #ResignSheriffIsrael

It doesn’t matter if you’re a Republican or a Democrat. The failures of this department led to the deaths of 17 children.
What makes it worse is the man in charge went on national TV and acted as if he did all he could to save lives. He sadly did not.

— Matt’s Idea Shop (@MattsIdeaShop) February 24, 2018
That’s exactly what happened.
Cue the NRA.
“You are NOT standing up for these students.” – Sheriff Israel to @NRA spokeswoman.
— Broward Sheriff (@browardsheriff) February 22, 2018
No Sheriff Israel you were the one that didn’t PROTECT these children and that is your job. You run the largest fully accredited sheriff’s office in the United States, yet your office failed this community. https://t.co/lauyeNedob
— NRA (@NRA) February 23, 2018
Exactly. If you’re blaming the NRA, stop. At this point, you just sound foolish.
