Emotional students have been speaking out, and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. They’re just kids looking for answers, and the left is using their emotional vulnerability to feed them a misguided political agenda.
The NRA isn’t the problem. The Second Amendment isn’t the problem. Guns aren’t the problem.
We need to take a long, hard look at how we respond to mental health. In this case, there were red flags everywhere. The FBI received specific warnings more than once.
Here’s another tidbit I heard on the radio this morning. Broward County apparently had a lot of issues with misbehaving students. Police calls and arrests were happening too frequently. They eventually decided that they were sending the wrong message and implemented more mental health measures to change the tone and message. The problem? Once they started doing that, it reduced arrest records, meaning, less red flags “officially” popping up in databases.
See how sticky it gets?
Anyway, President Trump is holding some sort of “listening session” with students and teachers on Wednesday.

President Trump will host a “listening session” with high school students and teachers on Wednesday, a week after the deadly mass shooting in Florida.
The White House didn’t say whether Trump will meet with Parkland teens, who have called on the president to do more on gun control and have organized a “March for Our Lives” rally in Washington March 24.
A White House spokesman Sunday said more details on the event would be forthcoming.

CNN will also hold a townhall with students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Wednesday night. Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Sens. Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson and Rep. Ted Deutch were invited. President Trump was invited too, but it doesn’t sound like he’ll participate.
Nelson and Deutch immediately accepted the invite to the event called: “Stand Up: The Students of Stoneman Douglas Demand Action.” Rubio had tweeted his acceptance shortly before Trump announced his listening session Sunday.
Trump’s schedule makes no mention of the TV townhall. On Thursday, Trump will discuss school safety with a group of state and local officials.
Should be interesting. I’m looking forward to it.
