John Legend is living proof that possessing the voice of an angel ≠ possessing critical thinking skills.
First, let’s backtrack.
Senate Democrats shut down the government, because they didn’t get loads of DACA protections in the measure. Republicans didn’t want to combine illegal immigration legislation with the budget deal. It’s totally unnecessary. DACA doesn’t even “expire” until March 5th. There’s absolutely no reason to pack the budget full of serious immigration reforms. There needs to be thorough and lengthy debate on that issue.
Again. March 5th. They have until March 5th. And even MONTHS ago, Trump dropped this nugget:
Congress now has 6 months to legalize DACA (something the Obama Administration was unable to do). If they can't, I will revisit this issue!

Wow. He’s so evil and mean. Clearly, he HAAAAATES Dreamers. What a disgusting guy. //sarc
Anyway. Schumer and his buddies decided that they needed to stand up for illegal immigrants RIGHT THIS SECOND. It’s now or never. They’ll show us! They’ll shut the government down to prove how compassionate they are!
While their extreme base might love it, the average American sees this as Democrats placing the needs of illegal immigrants above the needs of civilians and members of our military.
Now, President Trump has said time and time again that he’s willing to advance a “bill of love.” However, he said border security is essential.

Trump also maintained that we need to bring an end to chain migration and the visa lottery system.
These aren’t extreme requests. If anything, Democrats are asking for extreme things.
Mass amnesty is extreme in my book.
That’s the basic rundown. Both sides agree something needs to be done on illegal immigration. The DACA deadline is over a month away, but Schumer and his corrupt colleagues wanted to force a shutdown in order to make Trump look bad. That’s all this is about. Just ask House Speaker Paul Ryan. What’s the issue?
“The answer is– they have no problems with any of it,” Ryan said.
“Senate Democrats shut down the government over a bill they have no issues with—a bill that keeps government open and extends health insurance to nearly 9 million children,” he added. “They opposed a bill they don’t even oppose. We do some crazy things in Washington, but this is madness.”

All caught up? Good.
Any reasonable person can CLEARLY see what’s going on here. It’s obvious.
Cue John Legend.
The reason the government shutdown is that Trump and his team have an ideological commitment to allowing fewer black and brown people into the country. #TrumpShutdown #TrumpIsARacist

Um…..is he serious? I just want to make sure he’s not trolling us, because you either have to be 1.) The most ignorant person alive or 2.) The dumbest person alive to believe that.
Either way, it isn’t looking good for John.
Maybe he needs this in bite-sized portions?
1. President Trump didn’t shut down the government.
2. The Senate needed 60 votes to pass the short-term budget.
3. Republicans do not have 60 seats.
4. Schumer wanted to stick protections for illegals in the measure.
5. DACA protections don’t “expire” until March.
6. Trump has said he wants a “bill of love.”
7. It’s not racist to want people to come here legally.
8. Repeatedly calling someone a racist doesn’t make it so.
9. It just makes you look like an empty-headed idiot who is incapable of presenting a logical argument.
10. Stick to ballads maybe?
