President Trump Goes Off On Democrats In An Early Morning Tweetstorm

Right before midnight, Sarah Sanders dropped the official White House statement on the government shutdown, dubbing it the #SchumerShutdown.

It had a very Trumpy vibe.

Ah yes. For those who forgot, today is Jan. 20. Trump was sworn in exactly one year ago. If there’s one thing we should respect about Trump, it’s this: He doesn’t beat around the bush. Yes– today marks one year in office, and yes. The government shutdown makes it awkward.

President Trump also took it upon himself to create a new hashtag.

Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border. They could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead. #WeNeedMoreRepublicansIn18 in order to power through mess!

Yes we do. I can’t tell you how many low-fos I’ve seen saying, “Well Republicans have a majority in the House and Senate so this is on YOU.”

As we’ve said approximately 4 million times, Republicans only have 51 seats in the Senate. We needed 60 votes. Even if we got ALL Republicans on board, we would’ve STILL needed Democrats to hop across the aisle. Trump explained:

This isn’t the one-year anniversary he was probably dreaming of.

I can’t help but think that this was a deliberate move by the Democrats. Yes, I know they wanted to stuff DACA protections in the short-term bill, but I think they were going to squash the measure no matter what. They knew a government shutdown on the one-year anniversary of Trump’s presidency would look bad, even though it’s their fault.

You watch. Democrats are going to turn this into some sort of mid-term election rallying cry. They’re going to be all, “Oh yeah. Trump is soooooo great? The government shutdown happened under HIS WATCH. On the one-year anniversary of his presidency!”

That’s the new narrative.
