When the Harvey Weinstein stuff broke Hollywood, some prominent women stayed silent. Meryl Streep was one of them. I mean, she once joked that Weinstein was a “god.” She obviously had to make sure everyone forgot about that first. It took her FOREVER, but she eventually released a statement. She decided to pretend that she didn’t know about Weinstein’s behavior, even though EVERYONE in Hollywood knew.
The disgraceful news about Harvey Weinstein has appalled those of us whose work he championed, and those whose good and worthy causes he supported. The intrepid women who raised their voices to expose this abuse are our heroes.
One thing can be clarified. Not everybody knew. Harvey supported the work fiercely, was exasperating but respectful with me in our working relationship, and with many others with whom he worked professionally. I didn’t know about these other offenses: I did not know about his financial settlements with actresses and colleagues; I did not know about his having meetings in his hotel room, his bathroom, or other inappropriate, coercive acts. And If everybody knew, I don’t believe that all the investigative reporters in the entertainment and the hard news media would have neglected for decades to write about it.
The behavior is inexcusable, but the abuse of power familiar. Each brave voice that is raised, heard and credited by our watchdog media will ultimately change the game.”
The truth is, she remained silent. Juanita got her good.
Maybe now, Meryl, you can understand how wrong you were to support an enabler of a rapist husband. Wake up Hollywood! https://t.co/ZgRx7hIUN0

That’s why Streep’s latest critique is hilllllllarious. She feels as though she has the moral authority to slam Melania and Ivanka for their so-called “silence.” She told NYT that she doesn’t want to talk about her own silence. Nope. This isn’t about her. This is about the Trumps!
“I don’t want to hear about the silence of me. I want to hear about the silence of Melania Trump. I want to hear from her. She has so much that’s valuable to say. And so does Ivanka. I want her to speak now,” Streep said.
Just so you know, Ivanka has said quite a bit.
The president’s daughter told an audience in Tokyo in November that sexual harassment of women in the workplace should “never be tolerated.”
When allegations piled up against Republican Alabama Senate hopeful Roy Moore, Ivanka Trump said “there’s a special place in hell” for people who prey on children.
It’s just too rich, coming from Streep. She’s the Queen of Silence. Look in the mirror before you scold others, Hollywood hags.
Meryl's comment has to be the qutoe of the year. What a joke. She proteced Weinstein the the rest for decades! Lol!

Streep is a total hypocrite. She participated in the quid pro quo for decades. #BoycottHollywood
