So, according to this, CNN’s HLN network is going to be airing a two hour documentary about Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky, and she isn’t pleased with how it’s being promoted.
She took to Twitter to help the network with some ideas on that.
That’s now been liked and retweeted a ton, because we’re in a world right now where women want to be victims at every possible opportunity, and Monica is no exception.
Never mind the fact that when she was having cigars inserted into her vag at the hands of our former president, she was a 22-year old, willing adult. Yes, he was in a position of authority over her (and the country, even), but nevertheless, she was absolutely in a consensual relationship with him, and she was absolutely at the heart of the scandal.
And let’s face it. Any good marketer knows a headline that reads, “The Monica Lewinsky Scandal” is going to get a lot more eyeballs than one that reads, “The Starr Investigation” or “The Clinton Impeachment. Let’s be real here.
So, I have to say, I think Monica is being kind of ridiculous here. She was the star of a major scandal. That’s never NOT going to be the case. She was a willing and active participant in a scandal, whether she regrets it now or not.
If I ran Twitter for HLN, I’d be responding to let her know that the headline needs no fixing, and that she’s freaking high as a kite if she thinks she can somehow remove herself from that story.
