A co-worker of ours at the station posted a little tidbit he came across today that was just too delicious not to share, and I’d have never known about this had he not shared it, so I’m guessing many of y’all might not have either.
Indiana had a Democrat representative from 1965-73, and then again from 1975-1997 by the name of Andrew Jacobs Jr. In the summer of 1988, the Washington Post published some of the hate mail that Jacobs received, but more importantly, some of his responses to it. And they’re priceless. Take a look at all of them at that sourcelink.
But this one? This one is my favorite. Apparently, it’s from a 1970s postcard, and it’s about Jacobs’ stance on the war in Vietnam.
Dear Mr. Jacobs:
You are an incompetent jerk.
Sincerely,
Mr. — —
Dear Sir:
Thank you for the kind compliment. Naturally, I should dread being competent at being a jerk.
Sincerely,
Andy Jacobs Jr.
P.S. Just in case you did not intend to compliment me, you, Sir, are an incompetent name-caller.
OH SNAP.
Good, right?
It reminds me of when Daisy and I were insulted in the most glorious way ever. No one will ever insult like Christopher Moorhouse.
That’s how you do it, y’all.
