Mark Halperin Has Been Suspended From MSNBC Over Sexual Harassment Allegations

Weinstein-gate has opened the flood gates for sexual harassment allegations in the media.

The allegations have claimed a new head: MSNBC’s Mark Halperin.

Mark Halperin is parting ways with NBC News, where he has been a political analyst for years, after the publication of a CNN report in which five women accused the Game Change author of sexual harassment.

 

Halperin has since 2010 been an analyst at NBC News and frequently appears on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

In a statement provided to Mediaite, MSNBC called the CNN story and allegations “very troubling,” adding that “Mark Halperin is leaving his role as a contributor until the questions around his past conduct are fully understood.”

 

The harassment reportedly took place when Halperin was the political director at ABC News in the mid-late ’90s. His behavior ranged from “propositioning employees for sex” to “kissing and grabbing one’s breasts against her will.” Three of the women accused him of “pressing an erection against their bodies while he was clothed.”

 

Halperin said in a statement to CNN that he now understands his “behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain,” and apologized, though he denied the allegations involving grabbing women’s breasts and rubbing his genitalia against them.

Another day, another allegation against someone.

Listen…. I think EVERYONE who has sexually abused someone needs to be held accountable for their actions… I also think the “sexual harassment hysteria” going on right now is going to end up doing more to hurt actual victims than to help them.

Women need to stand up for what’s right… while putting into perspective what a “traumatizing event” actually looks like.

A dirty joke should not be a traumatizing event. If you’re traumatized by it… it’s time you toughen up. It’s a harsh world out there, your paper-thin skin isn’t going to cut it.

I’m not saying Mark Halperin isn’t entirely guilty. What he’s being accused of is ENTIRELY sexual harassment… I just think we need to be careful about the allegations being swung around right now.
