Holy crap. Sen. John McCain is CRANKY.
First, a little background.
The other day, former Vice President Joe Biden presented McCain with a Liberty Medal. McCain delivered a speech and slammed the “half-baked, spurious nationalism” supposedly breaking out in the country.
“To fear the world we have organized and led for three-quarters of a century, to abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the obligations of international leadership and our duty to remain the last best hope of earth for the sake of some half-baked, spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find scapegoats than solve problems is as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history,” McCain said.
I agree that white nationalism is disgusting and has no place in our country, but I can’t help but wonder if his comments were aimed toward Trump.
No. Trump is NOT a white nationalist. Not by any stretch of the imagination, but McCain knows the left loves to associate him with white nationalism, so…was it a jab?
Maybe. McCain and Trump aren’t on good terms, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
Chris Plante of “The Chris Plante Show” asked Trump about McCain’s jab, and Trump issued a warning of his own.
“Yeah, well I hear it. And people have to be careful because at some point I fight back,” Trump said. “I’m being very nice. I’m being very, very nice. But at some point I fight back, and it won’t be pretty.”
McCain later told reporters, “I’ve faced far greater challenges than this.”
Good grief, this feud is dumb. Daisy’s totally on to something. This entire feud can be better understood in the context of middle school girls. Trump and Lindsey Graham have been chummy lately, but as you know, Graham and McCain have been peas and carrots– BFFs forever. Not lately, though. Heck, McCain refused to support the Graham-Cassidy healthcare bill. It’s like Graham and Trump are getting all close, and McCain is jelly and acting out.
It’s just a theory, OK? A theory I like.
McCain is grouchy and ridiculous. That’s undeniable. And look– I know he’s dealing with this brain cancer diagnosis. I can’t even imagine what he’s going through on that front. But for the love of God– STOP WORKING. Just retire. Enjoy your family. Don’t waste any more time fighting with Trump and snapping at reporters.
Oh yeah. He did that. He flipped out on Fox News’ Peter Doocy. It wasn’t even a ridiculous question, either. Doocy asked what we’ve ALL been wondering. Is McCain just being difficult because he has a personal vendetta?
“Has your relationship with the president frayed to the point that you are not going to support anything that he comes to you and asks for?” Doocy asked.
“Why would you say something that stupid? Why would you ask something that dumb? Huh?” McCain asked. “My job as a United States senator as a senator from Arizona which I was just reelected to. You think that I would somehow behave in a way that I would block everything just because of some personal disagreement? That’s a dumb question.”
Except…no it’s not. Because that’s EXACTLY what McCain’s doing. It’s obvious. We all see it.

Dude needs to retire. Like yesterday.
