Oh, college campuses. How I used to love thee.
I’ve always loved being on and around college campuses. I used to teach part-time at one. I’ve always loved the hustle and bustle and cultural aspects of college campuses and university life. In fact, Mr. Daisy and I are planning to retire close to a college town one day – a loooooong time from now, obviously. There’s just something about a college town.
Except for when they suck super hard, that is. And Mizzou is a perfect case study in how social justice warriors have drained the goodness out of a college campus and injected some super suckage into it.
Y’all remember when they started their downward spiral of suck back in 2015, don’t you? Remember when a bunch of students screamed RAAAAAAAAAACISM! and convinced Mizzou’s president and chancellor to resign because they were (I guess?) super insensitive and whatnot? (I don’t know – I wasn’t there.) But the administration was all kow-towy and the social justice warriors “won.”
And the protest-y students “won.”
And that social-justice-y student body “won.”
Only if you fast forward two years to now, they kinda didn’t, because the school is sucking wind right now, in case you haven’t been paying attention. There was a great article by James Barrett in the Daily Wire that reminded us AAAAAAALLL about that super-suckiness (emphasis mine):
When the Mizzou football team vowed to quit all football-related activities in November 2015 until the university system president was removed or resigned, The New York Times cheered the players for “lending heft” to the racial activists’ cause. Two years later, the Times had to admit that all the campus hysteria and the administration’s decision to cave to it turned out to be exactly what many predicted it would be: an absolute “disaster” for the university. Over the next two years, freshmen enrollment dropped a stunning 35%, forcing the school to shut down seven dorms and lay off over 400 employees. As for the football team, which saw millions in donations disappear overnight, well, it’s now a full-fledged dumpster fire.
That’s right. Mizzou football is a freaking DUMPSTER FIRE, y’all.
They lost 31-13 to middling South Carolina, were hammered 35-3 by mediocre Purdue, and were annihilated 51-14 by an offensively-challenged Auburn.
Ouchie, that’s gonna leave a mark.
And there’s that dramatic drop in enrollment, too. A 35% drop, which is in direct correlation to the racial issues and campus hysteria, because there’s this neat thing called a consequence to one’s actions. Kids just don’t want to go to Mizzou like they did before, dorms are sitting empty, they’re using them as hotel rooms that people don’t want to stay in, and as mentioned above a few times, the school has become one giant ball of burning suckage.
So yeah – that’s how Mizzou is doing two years later, in case y’all were wondering. Progressive.
Bravo, social justice warriors. Rage on.
