Snopes Fact-Checks An Obviously Fake Image Of President Trump ‘Saving Cats’ From Hurricane Harvey Floodwaters

This is the dumbest thing I’ve seen in…actually, scratch that. Every time I say that, something even dumber comes along.

I’ll cut to the chase. There’s a goofy meme floating around, showing President Trump saving cats from Hurricane Harvey floodwaters. It’s OBVIOUSLY fake.

The original image is actually from 2008. It shows a man named Brandon Smith saving two cats from floodwaters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

I’m sorry, but every time I hear “Cedar Rapids,” that’s what comes to mind. It’s quite unfortunate.

There’s no way tons of people believe that first image is real. There’s no way. Right?

I don’t know. Apparently, so many people thought this was legit that Snopes felt the need to fact-check it. For real.

 An image that purportedly shows President Trump wading through floodwater while holding two cats was widely circulated on social media after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas in late August 2017:

This is not a genuine photograph of President Trump.

 

The original photograph, which showed a man named Brandon Smith rescuing his two cats from floodwaters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in June 2008, was taken by photographer Harry Baumert of the Des Moines Register.

Now, I really don’t believe people are THAT stupid. Snopes might’ve published this article just to make it seem like Trump supporters are THAT stupid. I have no idea. All I know is, this is an OBVIOUSLY FAKE image, and I pity anyone who thought otherwise.
