On Friday morning, Attorney General Jeff Sessions promised to crack down on leakers, assuring that they will be “held accountable.”
“I strongly agree with the president and condemn in the strongest terms the staggering number of leaks undermining the ability of our government to protect this country,” Sessions stated.
He ultimately said that the “culture of leaking must stop,” adding that the number of leak related investigations has tripled
“I have this warning for would-be leakers: Don’t do it,” he said.
This comes one day after the Washington Post published leaked transcripts of Trump’s conversations with foreign leaders.
“We respect the important role that the press has and we give them respect, but it is not unlimited,” he continued. “They cannot place lives at risk with impunity.”
Sessions ultimately said the leakers are “being investigated and will be prosecuted.”

It all sounds nice, but I can’t help but feel like it’s just more wimpy slaps on the wrist. They can keep saying, “You better not leak anymore!” but that’s not going to change anything.
I’m skeptical. I hope they stop these leaks, but so far, they’ve sucked at getting a handle on it.
