Commercial Crabber Asks Al Gore Why Sea Levels Aren’t Rising

I’m not a regular consumer of #FakeNews, so I missed CNN’s super special town hall with Al Gore. But MAN. I love this clip so much.

Tangier Island mayor and commercial crabber James Eskridge asked Al Gore why sea levels aren’t rising, and Al Gore didn’t really have much of an explanation.

“I’m a commercial crabber and I’ve been working the Chesapeake Bay for 50+ years. I have a crab house business out on the water and the water level is the same as it was when the place was built in 1970,” Eskridge said. “I’m not a scientist, but I am a keen observer and if sea level rises are occurring, why am I not seeing signs of it?”

He went on to say that their island is disappearing, but it’s due to “wave action [and] storms”– NOT rising sea levels.

Al Gore tried to spin it by asking if there’s been an increase in storms. He was hoping Eskridge would say yes and then deliver the A-HA! moment. Except…that didn’t happen. Eskridge said there’s been no increase in storms. It’s just erosion. The problem is the result of years and years and years of erosion.

Al Gore’s response?  “Well the SCIENTISTS say it’s happening and it is! Sorry you’re not smart enough to understand that.”

I’m hardly exaggerating.

I love how Eskridge handled Al Gore’s condescension and stupidity. Clearly, he doesn’t want his island to disappear. If he truly believed rising sea levels were responsible for the island’s disappearance, OF COURSE he’d shout it from the rooftops! But you see, Eskridge is a reasonable individual, unlike Al Gore. It’s much easier to say “scientists say!” and go on with your day.

Al Gore is the last person on the planet anyone should listen to when it comes to predictions of our impending doom. Remember that one time he said we only had 10 years to take drastic steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions or face “the point of no return”? We’re past that point, and surprise! Not much has changed.

Al Gore is a sucker who’s made millions off fearmongering. Of COURSE he’s going to stick to the false global warming narrative. He’s gotta make a living somehow!
