Repealing and replacing Obamacare has turned out to be an utter fiasco.
I have to admit I’m really disappointed with Republicans in office right now. They have been promising to deal with Obamacare for what… seven years? Most of them got elected on those promises. NOW is their time to act, and not only do they have absolutely no semblance of a plan, they can’t even decide what direction to move in. It’s a cluster.
Anyway, a new report is out saying Trump is getting impatient, and knows how bad this all looks. He’s considering an executive order.
U.S. Senator Rand Paul said he spoke to President Donald Trump by phone about healthcare reform on Monday and told the president he thought Trump had the authority to create associations that would allow organizations to offer group health insurance plans.
Paul, a Republican, told reporters that Trump was considering taking some form of executive action to address problems with the healthcare system after the Senate failed last week to pass a measure to reform the system.
Allowing groups like AARP, which represents retirees, to form health associations could enable individuals and small businesses to form larger groups to negotiate with health insurance companies for lower rates.
I’m glad Trump realizes the importance of this, but we have to remember that this is NOT a permanent solution. I’ll give this a chance as long as legislators don’t see this as their way around having to do anything. The next guy could easily come in and go right back to Obamacare. We need actual legislation, and we need it stat.
