On Thursday, Fox Business Network suspended “Making Money” host Charles Payne over claims of sexual harassment.
“We take issues of this nature extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy for any professional misconduct,” FBN said in a statement. “This matter is being thoroughly investigated and we are taking all of the appropriate steps to reach a resolution in a timely manner.”
Payne admitted to having a three year long affair with a frequent guest on the network. The woman says she stayed with Payne in hopes of becoming a paid contributor. She eventually ended their relationship but claims that her appearances dropped as a result.
So now…sexual harassment allegations. I should note, Payne’s lawyer “categorically denies” those claims.
The Los Angeles Times originally refused to name the woman in question because “she alleges that she was coerced into a sexual relationship with Payne under threat of reprisals.”
But the Daily Mail just revealed her identity. It’s Scottie Nell Hughes.
Hughes is best known for her pro-Trump appearances on CNN during last year, when she made a string of gaffes, including referring to Molotov cocktails as ‘Mazel Tov cocktails’.
But she also worked as an unpaid guest commentator on Fox from 2013-2016 – during which time she struck up an affair with the married father, according to the Los Angeles Times.
They barely hid their illicit encounters, apparently sharing a hotel room at a May 2015 company trip to the Money Show in Las Vegas, sources told The Huffington Post.
Payne, who was hosting Making Money With Charles Payne at the event, disappeared with Hughes for ‘hours’ at one point, the sources claimed.
And Hughes, who is also married, attended Payne’s birthday party at his home in 2015, where the pair’s behavior reportedly made Payne’s wife uncomfortable.
Hughes now claims that she was coerced into the relationship with threats of reprisals.
So there’s that. Hughes had an affair with Payne and is now accusing him of sexual harassment. Her lawyer is currently preparing a legal complaint against Payne and the network, so this is far from over.
If everyone could just stop having affairs and sexually harassing people, that’d be great.
