UN Adds Saudi Arabia To The Commission On The Status Of Women

I knew the United Nations was useless, laughable and basically complete and utter garbage, but this totally reinforces my feelings.

When you think of a leading country in the women’s rights department, which comes to mind? The United States? Great Britain? France? Canada? Any Western country? How about Saudi Arabia? No? Well, sucks for you, because the United Nations quietly elected Saudi Arabia to serve on the Commission on the Status of Women. The commission is dedicated to the “promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.”

We’re talking about the same Saudi Arabia that:

• Produces “Muslim scholars” who preach the idea that if women drive, the country will run out of virgins. They’re actually part of the Saudi Arabia’s “highest religious council” FOR REAL.
• Temporarily banned women from a Starbucks, because the female side of the the coffeehouse was under construction, and obviously, women can’t use the same door as men. GAWD.
• Launched a Girls Council in order to show how devoted they are to women. Speaking of women, none were at the meeting. They were required to stay in another room, out of the public eye.
• Considers a woman posting a picture without a hijab worthy of death.
• Generally requires women to have male guardians.
• Punishes homosexuals (with lashes and in extreme cases, death).

In addition, the World Economic Forum ranks Saudi Arabia 134th out of 145 countries for gender equality (as of 2015).

Yeah. THAT Saudi Arabia. I guess the UN figured it was doing such a great job serving on the Human Rights Council, it deserved this too.

You didn’t hear about this on the news, because it was a pretty under the table move on the UN Economic and Social Council’s part. It was a secret ballot vote, but you can find the proof of this action on the UN’s website. Emphasis mine–

Commission on the Status of Women:  The Council elected by secret ballot 13 members to four-year terms, beginning at the first meeting of the Commission’s sixty-third session in 2018 and expiring at the close of the sixty-sixth session in 2022:  Algeria, Comoros, Congo, Ghana and Kenya (African States); Iraq, Japan, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan (Asia-Pacific States); and Ecuador, Haiti and Nicaragua (Latin American and Caribbean States).

There ya have it. The UN voted to put a country that requires a woman to have a male guardian to a commission that protects and promotes women’s rights. And the globalists expect us to take the UN seriously? I don’t think so.
